Sedgwick Reserve Hike
UCSB's 6,000 -acre offers hikes on the second Saturday of each month between November and June. Also offered are tours of the old barn, new meeting house and new observatory. The hikes begin at 8:30 a.m., with three offered of varying difficulties. Reservations are required by calling 686-1941 or e-mailing sedgwick@lifesci.ucsb.edu.

Sage Hill Trail Ride
The Santa Ynez Valley Arabian Horse Associations sponsors the individual and family horse camping/trail ride event held at Live-Oak Camp. Open riders cover 50-60 miles in a two-day period. SYV Historical Museum Vaquero Show
SYV Historical Museum Annual Vaquero Show and Sale celebrates California's earliest cowboy, the vaquero. Local artisans and collectors from Western America will display memorabilia. Benefit goes to Historical Society. Preview party and Gala dinner on Friday night. Sale begins Saturday morning 9am to 5pm. Tri-tip lunch, no-host cocktail bar all day. Book Sale
St. Mark's-in-the-Valley holds its book sale at 2901 Nojoqui in Los Olivos. Opening night is from 5 to 8 pm, Novemer 6th for $10, which includes a free glass of wine or other beverage and hors d'oeuvres. There is no admission the other days and the sale is from 9 am to 4 pm. Books are $2 an inch.
