The Buellton Chamber of Commerce will be holding its 11th Annual Oscar Night Gala on Sunday February 25th at 4:00pm. The Turf Ballroom of the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott will be transformed “Hollywood Style” into a glamorous viewing room, complete with wide screens. The theme of the evening is Happy Feet and there will be penguins galore. Guests will be privy to a Red Carpet arrival, their picture taken with Buellton’s own Happy Feet penguin, and receive a complimentary glass of champagne! Themed party favor tables will honor the movies of the last twelve months, which include Little Miss Sunshine, The Devil Wears Prada, The Pursuit of Happyness, Bobby, Cars, and many more.
Ed Joyce, former CBS Executive, will be cast as the leading man, performing the duties of the Master of Ceremonies. The Oscar producers will receive their very own statuette. The Annual Special Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to a community leader for their dedication and commitment to improving the quality of life in The Valley. Our own Oscars will be presented to “Best Dressed” and the individual who can predict the most Oscar winners. Best Picture nominees for 2007 are Babel, The Departed, Letters from Iwo Jima, Little Miss Sunshine, and The Queen.
As a Producer, you will have a reserved table, which includes two (2) tickets, along with recognition during the evening. Producer Sponsorships are $250.00. Tables of 10 are available and additional tickets are $65.00 per person. All sponsorships and tickets must be pre-paid no later than February 16th. We will be watching the ceremony televised LIVE on ABC. This year, Comedian Ellen Degeneres will host the festivities live from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. Pure entertainment!
Chef Ofelio has planned a gourmet four-course dinner that will delight your palates and local wines will be available. Our menu includes an overture of a complimentary glass of champagne upon guests’ arrival. We move into Act One with ‘Mumble’s Tappin’ Ceviche,’ presented in a martini glass. Act Two is our ‘Heart Song Salad,’ which comprises iceberg lettuce with crumbled blue cheese and bacon, diced tomatoes served with a creamy blue cheese dressing and raspberry vinaigrette. Act Three is our main course - ‘Emperors Combination.’ It is a combination of a petit filet of beef and swordfish, served with a whole grain mustard jus and wild rice trilogy along with fresh winter vegetables. Our finale is ‘Song of the Heart’ Mousse. A combination of chocolate and vanilla mouse topped with a tuxedo strawberry. Delicious!
